DPA is announcing their latest miniature omnidirectional lavalier microphone, the DPA 2061. Featuring a high-quality capsule that can handle loud vocal projection, the DPA 2061 is optimized for performance, broadcast, and theatrical applications where clarity is paramount.
The 2061 boasts a 5.6mm electret-condenser capsule that is designed to capture the smallest details of your voice in the most natural way possible, resulting in clear, broadcast-quality speech and performance. Thanks to its relatively linear frequency response, with a 3 dB soft boost in the 8 to 16 kHz range for added presence, performers can speak comfortably, knowing that their voice will be reproduced clearly and intelligibly. And given the 2061’s ability to handle up to 128 dB SPL without distortion, one can confidently project loud vocals without compromising sound quality. Furthermore, the 2061’s omnidirectional pickup pattern means that sound is captured from all around the microphone. As a result, the sonic delivery always remains consistent and natural, even if the speaker turns their head away from the mic.
Because of its miniature size, the DPA 2061 is perfect for discreet wear, easily concealed in clothing or costumes, or even attached directly to the performer’s skin. It’s also designed to be resilient and safe from dust and moisture, which may naturally arise when sweating or emoting during performance. The durable 4.9’ cable is reinforced with Kevlar and promises strain relief at both ends, ensuring that it can withstand even the most rigorous use. The non-modular design with a fixed cap and hardwired transmitter connector solidifies the design for even greater toughness.
The DPA 2061 also prioritizes compatibility, offering three connector options, including a locking 3.5mm, TA4F, and LEMO 3-Pin. The locking 3.5mm connector works with many Sennheiser transmitters, including the Evolution (ew), XSW-D, and SpeechLine (SL) Series. It also works with other Sennheiser-compatible wireless transmitters and portable audio recorders that employ plug-in power through a locking 3.5mm connector. The TA4F connector accommodates a variety of wireless transmitters, including models from Shure that are equipped with TA4M connectors. It’s also compatible with Line 6’s TBP12 and XD-V70L, as well as TOA’s WM4300 transmitters. In addition, the TA4F connector can accommodate the TG1000 from Beyerdynamic. Finally, you have the option of purchasing this model with a LEMO 3-Pin connector, which supports Lectrosonics transmitters, including the SSM and the DBu. Owners of the Sennheiser SK Series, Trantec SD7300, or Wisycom MTP will also be able to use the LEMO 3-Pin connector with these transmitters.
The DPA 2061 requires 5 to 10V plug-in-power, and the black and white colored models come with a clip and windscreen. Other color options include brown and beige with accessories sold separately.
