Aputure’s BLAIR (Blue/Lime/Amber/Indigo/Red) light engine made waves when it debuted last year, producing more accurate and tunable colors—especially shades of white—than the LED fixtures that came before. Now, we have two new Aputure lights that utilize BLAIR, the powerful 5200W STORM XT52 and the portable 80W STORM 80c. Both lights feature the reliability, durability, and connectivity that Aputure is known for.
The STORM XT52 is a powerhouse, packing a whopping 103,500 lux at 9.8' with its included reflector attached. It has a CRI and TLCI of >96, a CCT range of 2500 to 10,000K, and white-point control that offers ±G 100% ASC MITC range green-magenta correction. That makes it perfect for mixed lighting environments, ambitious outdoor work, and large-scale studio use.

The XT52 has a heavy-duty electronic Aputure mount instead of a Bowens and requires at least 180V at full power. It comes with bare end cables that users can customize to their plug type of choice. Additional features are what you’d expect from a high-end Aputure light–IP65 rating, advanced liquid cooling, flicker free performance, and control via the Sidus Link app, LumenRadio CRMX, Art-Net, sACN, or 16-bit DMX512. If high output is your #1 must-have, give the STORM XT52 a look.
The compact STORM 80c puts out a respectable 19,850 lux at 3.3' with the included reflector and has even more accurate colors through its expanded BLAIR-CG (Blue/Lime/Amber/Indigo/Red/Cyan/Green) light engine. The 80c is the first BLAIR-equipped light that’s easy to take on the go, weighing less than three pounds even with its yoke, plus an additional pound for the power supply.
The 80c is also IP65-rated and uses a Mini ProLock Bowens mount that works with the included diffuser and reflector, as well as additional accessories. The CCT range is 1800-20,000K, the CRI is 97, and the TLCI is 99. Control options include Bluetooth, Sidus Link, DMX, and CRMX, and the light offers four different dimming curves - linear, exponential, logarithmic, and S-shaped. If you need a small, nimble fixture that’s just as accurate as your bigger LEDs, the STORM 80c fits the bill.
