SmallRig Releasing Lightweight S 70 2-Person Wireless Mic System

SmallRig is stepping up their lavalier game with the new S 70 Wireless 2.4 GHz Microphone System, an all-in-one kit for smartphones, tablets, and cameras that includes two transmitters with built-in microphones, alongside custom receivers, a charging case, and more. The S 70 system is super lightweight, while still providing high-quality 24-bit audio capture and up to 40 hours of battery life.

The competition is fierce when it comes to 2.4 GHz wireless mic systems, so SmallRig made sure the S 70 is remarkably small—the clip-on transmitter mics are only 1.1 x 0.3" and 8.6 g—yet still capable of 24-bit/48 kHz capture with an ATS3031 chip. Expect a 70 dB SNR (Signal-to-Noise Ratio) and a maximum SPL (Sound Pressure Level) of 120 dB.

The S 70 system also offers an Auto Limiter to avoid clipping, plus nine EQ modes tuned by Grammy-winning sound engineer Luca Bignardi: General, Rich, Bright, Male, Female, Singing, Guitar, Violin, and Ambient. Additionally, the S70 has three-level noise reduction, five-level gain adjustment, and three possible mixing modes (Mono, Stereo, and Safety Track). The kit also includes windscreens for use in outdoor environments.

The clip style of the mics makes them easier to hide than many similar offerings, and the receiver comes in a USB-C, Lightning, or 3.5mm varietal depending on which kit you select (some offer two or even all three). SmallRig promises eight hours of use on a single charge, or up to 40 hours if you take breaks and top up the microphones with the charging case.
