Apple announced the highly anticipated AirPods Max 2, the successor to its first-ever flagship over-ear headphones. The new AirPods Max 2 promise plenty of upgrades and improvements, including new features like Adaptive Audio, Conversation Awareness, Voice Isolation, and Live Translation. These features join several other impressive upgrades, including 1.5x more effective Active Noise Cancellation, markedly improved sound quality, and—for all you gamers out there—heavily reduced wireless audio latency.
Apple's engineers and marketing departments can't stop gushing about the AirPods Max 2's new H2 chip, which supports new computational audio algorithms that promise to deliver state-of-the-art transparency for full situational awareness, as well as deeply immersive sound, even in noisy conditions.
The AirPods Max 2 headphones boast up to 20 hours of battery life and feature a new high dynamic range amplifier, a dual-neodymium ring magnet motor, and an Apple-designed high-dynamic range driver, along with optical and positional sensors, accelerometers, and a gyroscope for its personalized spatial audio with dynamic head tracking—now with improved localization for listeners, musicians, and gamers.
Apple AirPods Max 2 are available in five different colors—midnight, orange, starlight, purple, and blue. Preorders start March 25, 2026, with shipping date tentatively slated for early April 2026.
