First, what’s familiar? As always, Swarovski delivers exceptional clarity, light transmission, and durability existing users have grown accustomed to and new users will come to appreciate. While this update does come with a change the appearance, much remains the same in regard to what we’ve come to expect from Swarovski.

Now for what’s new. Swarovski has added quite a few new features without compromising the familiar feel of their optics. We mentioned colors, but these are just part of a complete redesign. Most notably is the new bridge, which improves comfort and balance.

Standing out from previous offerings, the new design is available in not one, not two, but three different color schemes, including “Desert Orange,” “Mountain Green,” and “Safari Brown.” Additionally, the bridge is colored in a secondary color adding some variety to their appearance.

One change that may come as a surprise is that the new model is slightly heavier than its predecessor, coming in at 19.4 oz versus the original’s 17.6 oz. Don’t worry, at only 2 oz heavier it’s still extremely compact and lightweight. This added weight, while minimal, isn’t just cosmetic, it comes as a result of the wider field of view, which we’d consider to be a worthwhile trade-off. After all, the heavier the binoculars, the more stable it’ll be in the hand.

Both the 8x30 and 10x30 pairs see a .4-degree increase in their field of view. While this improvement may sound minimal on paper, the visual difference will be noticeable. For instance, at 1000’ the original 8x30 has a field of view of 396’, whereas the new version has a field of view of 420’.

This allows users to seamlessly link their phone camera to one of the lenses. Capture ID shots of birds and other cool finds on your trips with ease.
