One flight for limitless creativity. With the announcement of the Avata 360, DJI has entered the 360-degree drone category in a big way. The Avata 360 is actually a hybrid, using a twisting gimbal for dual-camera modes—360 and Single Lens—maintaining the Avata’s FPV legacy.

The Avata 360 is available in three configurations: with an RC 2 controller, with an RC 2 and Fly More Combo accessory bundle, and a fully immersive Motion Fly More Combo with Goggles N3, RC Motion 3 controller, and the Fly More Combo bundle.

With its hybrid design, the Avata 360 is both an FPV drone and an extremely capable and nimble UAV for general filming. Engage the dual mode gimbal camera in Single Lens mode for a forward-facing lens with 4K60 video capture for FPV flight. In 360 mode, the lens faces up with another facing down, capturing 8K60 HDR footage of everything around the drone.

The globe of video captured in this mode uses algorithms to remove the Avata from the scene. Having all the footage during a flight opens vast capabilities for pilots and videographers in post-production. Shots can be reframed from different angles, entire viewpoints can be clipped and integrated into the final composition, or creators can just provide videos untouched for an incredibly immersive 360-degree experience.

Additional features have been added to support the drone’s new 360-degree capability, such as ActiveTrack 360 and Spotlight subject tracking and omnidirectional obstacle sensing. ActiveTrack 360 offers Standard and Cycling modes, where the Avata 360 keeps the moving subject centered in frame as it films. With Cycling, the drone can react faster to turns while maintaining focus.

Spotlight tracks while performing pre-programmed movements, such as Circle or Dronie, or pilots can use Spotlight Free for manual flight while the Avata 360 handles the complicated task of keeping the subject in frame.

Omnidirectional sensing improves on the binocular sensors of the Avata 2, making flights a lot safer. The Avata 360 also offers Vision Assist, using a full-color 1080p view from the front, back, and side sensors for increased awareness of the drone’s surroundings. Lastly, there’s now forward-facing LiDAR to assist in detection at night. This all joins the usual fully integrated propeller guards the Avata line is known for.

These new advancements do not come at a performance cost, as the Avata 360 maintains the same 23 minutes of flight time as the Avata 2. When flying the Avata 360, pilots can rely on DJI’s robust O4+ transmission system for a 1080p60 real-time view from up to 12.4 miles away. Additional support for the drone is provided through software, such as the DJI Fly and DJI Studio apps, and optional accessories newly released with the Avata 360, such as an intelligent flight battery, replacement lens kits, two-way charging hub, and spare propellers.
