The Venus Optics Laowa 50mm f/2.8 2X Ultra Macro APO Lens paves the way for Micro Four Thirds photographers looking to get closer to their subjects than ever before. As the first lens to offer 2:1 magnification for these mirrorless cameras, Venus’s 100mm-equivalent lens is perfect for working with insects, flowers, jewelry, or any other small, intricate subject. Complementing its optical design is a compact and lightweight build that simplifies carry and handling, whether shooting in the wild or in the studio.

Optically, this manual focus lens uses three extra-low dispersion elements and is designated an apochromat, meaning it virtually eliminates chromatic aberration to ensure color is rendered accurately across in-focus and out-of-focus areas. It has a minimum focusing distance of 5.3", or a minimum working distance of 2.2", and a seven-blade diaphragm helps to smooth out blurred backgrounds.

Aperture selection can be controlled through the camera, thanks to the lens’s built-in CPU chip, which also records Exif data for future review. Weighing only 8.4 oz and measuring 3.1 inches in length, you can pack this macro lens without worrying about space or weight. A 49mm front thread also allows you to add any filters that you might need.
