Things We Love: Peak Design Everyday Sling v2

Searching for the right camera bag is a lot like dating in New York. In theory, the possibilities are nearly endless. In practice, the results are often terrible. Occasionally, however, the clouds above the B&H SuperStore part and a bag appears that can pry the jaded veil from this writer’s eyes and set his heart aflame. I first encountered the Peak Design Everyday Sling v2 while preparing to head across the country. I planned to travel light and needed something with minimal baggage that I could trust to protect one of my favorite lenses and a pricey camera. I wasn’t looking for love—but isn’t that how it always happens?

First Impression

If you are half as superficial as I am, you’ll appreciate how fine this bag looks. Durable, weather-resistant nylon makes it perfect for long walks on the beach or rainy-day rendezvous. Its interior provides thickness in all the right places while foldable dividers are a gentle touch for your equipment’s most sensitive parts. For those with a fear of commitment, the shoulder strap allows the Everyday Sling v2 to be worn a variety of ways, so you don’t have to settle on one look. Its ergonomic form can rest comfortably against your body for hours.

Inner Beauty

The Everyday Sling v2 has two compartments: a large, main area for your camera and a smaller, front area for accessories. Included are two dividers to help organize the contents of the main compartment. My setup required the inserts to be left at home so that everything would fit, but I can see them coming in handy when working with a more modest camera and lens. Additionally, the main compartment offers six pockets for storing and organizing essentials.

Nothing was the Same

The Everyday Sling v2 forces you to simplify your life, so don’t expect it to carry everything you need for shooting a six-figure ad campaign. It’s the ride-or-die bag you pack when going for a hike or taking the subway to work. It keeps you honest, forcing you to ask what is truly necessary for your daily practice.

If you are looking for a drama-free way to carry your camera that looks great by your side, try the Everyday Sling v2. Just don’t tell your other bags back home.
