Joining Fujifilm's ever-expanding medium-format family is the GF 100-200mm f/5.6 R LM OIS WR lens, the first telephoto zoom in the system. Offering a 79-158mm equivalent focal length range, this is designed to offer versatility and high performance in a package that still manages to travel well, despite its need to cover the impressive sensors found in Fujifilm's GFX cameras. A constant f/5.6 aperture helps maintain shooting performance at all focal lengths, while two Super ED elements and a single aspherical lens take on aberrations to deliver clean, crisp imagery that makes the most of the GFX system's high-resolution capabilities.
Maximizing performance is tech beyond the optical design. This includes a high-speed linear AF motor that is silent and accurate. An updated mechanism ensures that the optics don't move when the camera is powered off or when previewing images, to prevent unneeded movement within the lens. Handheld shooting will also be possible, thanks to an optical image stabilizer rated for five stops.
Beyond this, the physical design is robust, with 10 seals to prevent ingress of water and dust in trying weather conditions. It will operate in temperatures as low as 14°F, as well. On the side of the lens barrel, users will find a focus limiter switch to help improve focusing speed in certain situations. Also, a rotating tripod collar is available for using various support systems and the front of the lens features a 67mm filter thread. The 100-200mm will even work with the GF 1.4x TC WR Teleconverter, taking it to 140-280mm, or 111-221mm in 35mm terms, at the cost of one stop of light.
