Godox is announcing the second generation of its “sweet spot” outdoor strobe, the AD400Pro II All-in-One Outdoor Flash. Well-balanced among power, size, and affordability, the new flash boasts an ultra-short freeze mode duration of 1/27770s for capturing fast action, instant sync with the X3 wireless trigger, expanded TTL compatibility, and color indicator lights for intuitive multi-light coordination. A bi-color modeling lamp, 2.4” on-light LCD screen, customizable output to 1/512, and up to 460 full-power flashes have also been introduced to the light, boosting its portable, studio-or-outdoor bona fides.
The 400W light retains its 236’ guide number, along with 1/8000s high-speed sync capabilities, .1 to 1s recycling times, and stable color temperature mode, which keeps color temperature changes within +/- 75K across the entire power range.
The head now boasts one-tap sync with the latest X3 wireless trigger and works seamlessly with older triggers in the 2.4 GHz wireless X system. The system affords control of 16 groups across 32 channels at up to 328’. A USB-C port also allows users to work on the 433 MHz band with the FR433 receiver. Proprietary TTL compatibility is also expanded, adding Pentax and Leica to the line-up of Canon E-TTL II, Nikon i-TTL, Sony, Olympus, Panasonic, and FUJIFILM systems.

The AD400Pro II introduces a new freeze mode that offers ultra-short flash durations from 1/3470 to 1/27770s, ideal for razor-sharp stopping of flying liquids, speeding vehicles, or other fast-moving objects, especially when combined with HSS up to 1/8000s. These faster sync speeds also benefit shooting outdoors when balancing ambient light with the strobe, as does the expansion of power output settings from 1/512 to full power for a total of ten stops.

The 30W modeling lamp is now bi-color, with temperature adjustable between a wide 2800 to 6000K CCT with variable brightness from 10 to 100%. The color and brightness can be set independently or synced with the flash setting. The on-body, 2.4” LCD screen is now full color with a rotatable select dial, allowing users to take advantage of Godox’s group color functionality that assigns group different colors for easy identification.

The included battery now powers up to 460 full-power flashes, and the light comes with an AC adapter for continuous wired power. The light comes with a Bowen mount adapter, opening it to broad selection of light modifiers.
