Neutral density (ND) filters allow photographers and videographers to shoot at wide apertures in bright environments, use slow shutter speeds to create a blur effect, or produce a smoky, fog-like look with moving bodies of water. Graduated ND filters offer a soft-edged transition from dark to light to darken specific areas of the image, such as the sky.
Known for providing rolls and sheets of filters of all types, LEE also makes a wide variety of ND filters and adapter rings. These rings are also available in kits that include various components of the system. One such kit is the LEE85 Filter System Discover Kit, which includes a filter holder; a glass 0.6 medium graduated filter; 58, 67, and 72mm adapter rings; and a pouch with shoulder strap and belt loop. Another kit is the LEE85 Filter System Aspire Kit, which contains 0.6, 0.9, and 3.0 “Big Stopper” ND filters, a filter holder, three adapter rings, and a filter pouch. LEE also offers ND filters separately, made of optical-quality resin in 1-, 2-, 3-, and 4-stop density transitions.
