Thypoch Announces Three New Lenses

A legacy mount gets a pair of modern optics with Thypoch’s latest lenses for the Leica M-mount, the Ksana 35mm f/2 ASPH and 21mm f/3.5 ASPH for full-frame cameras. Lightweight and compact, the two wide-angle prime lenses are robust manual-focus options for travel and everyday photography.

Thypoch is also announcing a new full-frame Sony E-mount zoom lens, the Voyager 24-50mm f/2.8 lens. With its consistent maximum aperture throughout the zoom range, the company is positioning the new lens as an effective five-prime replacement.

The recently debuted Ksana line is a vintage-inflected series of lenses that combine a classic, machined build with a modern optical design prioritizing contrast and sharpness. Named for a Sanskrit character describing the duration of sudden enlightenment—approximately 1/60s—each Ksana lens boasts a unique coating that yields its own distinct flavor of nostalgia.

The Ksana 21mm f/3.5 ASPH, the wider of the two lenses, was announced first. Well-suited to architecture, landscape, and street photography, the lens has eight elements in six groups that include aspherical, extra-low dispersion, and high refractive index lenses. The nine-blade iris yields the lens’s smooth bokeh and the crisp, 18-point starbursts produced at the f/4 aperture setting. The minimum close focus distance is 19.7”, and the 4.6 oz lens is compatible with both mirrorless and rangefinders.

The 21mm f/3.5 ASPH also features an Epoch Coating 73, producing vintage amber-hued flare characteristic of 1970s cine lenses without surrendering high-fidelity optical performance.

The Ksana 35mm f/2 ASPH lens has a slightly narrower field of view, one verging on a more normal perspective, with a wider maximum aperture and a little more heft at 7 oz. The optical innards are similar, with eight elements in five groups that again include aspherical, extra-low dispersion, and high refractive index lenses. The minimum focus distance is the same, while this lens’s 10-blade iris contributes to the lens’s smooth, rounded bokeh.

The coating here is the Epoch ’84, offering vintage gold and purple flares of 1980s cine lenses, while also maintaining the high-fidelity optical performance.

Each lens comes in both black and silver colorways. Optional hoods for both lenses provide additional protection against drops and debris, with Thypoch offering them bundled and for individual purchase

The Voyager 24-50mm f/2.8 lens is a compact and lightweight zoom for full-frame Sony E-mount cameras whose concept will be familiar to those in the Sony ecosystem, sharing optic similarities to Sony’s own FE 24-50mm f/2.8 G lens. The affordable Typoch lens offers the same focal length versatility in addition to strong resolving power, clarity, and bokeh. The weather-sealed lens body also boasts customizable controls for quick and precise setting adjustments.
