Opteka Goes Prime Time with New Lens Series

Opteka is hitting the scene with a full range of manual focus prime lenses designed for a variety of mirrorless systems. Ranging from the dramatic and unique 6.5mm f/2 Circular Fisheye to the compact 50mm f/2, each of these lenses features a compact, all-metal design with manual focus operation and advanced optical designs to realize sharp, clear imagery. Opteka's new lineup is designed for APS-C or smaller sensors, and the lenses will be available for Micro Four Thirds, Sony E, Fujifilm X, Canon EF-M, and Nikon 1 lens mounts.

At the wide end is the 6.5mm f/2 Circular Fisheye, which pairs its creative fisheye design with an immense 190° angle of view to produce truly distinct circular imagery with a high degree of distortion. A super-low dispersion element minimizes color fringing and an HD anti-reflection coating helps to cut flare and ghosting for improved contrast. A bit narrower is the 12mm f/2.8, which produces a wide-angle rectilinear image and features a similar optical design with an HD coating for high clarity and color accuracy.

Moving to the normal focal lengths, the 28mm f/2.8 lens is an impressively slim pancake-style lens that is well-suited to everyday, walkaround use. In addition to the use of low dispersion glass and an HD coating, this lens also sports a nine-blade diaphragm to produce smooth, rounded bokeh when working with selective focus techniques. The fastest lens of the bunch is the 35mm f/1.7, which is ideal for shallow depth of field and low-light shooting, and sports a similar optical layout for high sharpness and low distortion. Finally, the longest lens of Opteka's new lenses is the 50mm f/2, which mixes a relatively bright maximum aperture and longer focal length to make it ideal for portraiture.
