Akai has announced the MPK Mini MKIII compact keyboard and pad controller, which builds upon the success of the MKII with several enhancements, including a redesigned keybed, OLED display, eight endless encoders, and the MPC Beats DAW software. The MPK Mini MKIII is available in three color schemes: white, black, and original.
The new second-generation keybed has been designed from the ground up with enhanced dynamics to deliver a natural and responsive key performance to guarantee the best out of any playing style and virtual instrument. The eight pads are taken from the flagship MPC series and feature bankable, velocity- and pressure-sensitive action to deliver the perfect touch for precise drumming and melodic sample playback for the most demanding players. There are two pad banks, readily switchable at the touch of a button.
The new OLED is crisp and bright, delivering must-have visual feedback from a variety of parameters, including DAW mode selection, velocity, and continuous controller (CC) data, as well as program change messages and the eight endless encoders. The endless encoders are freely assignable to any assignable parameter in your favorite DAW.
The usual features you’ve come to expect have not been forgotten: the built-in arpeggiator with tap tempo, note repeat, and full level, which sets the velocity to maximum regardless of how hard or soft you play the keys and pads. The Octave +/- button shifts the keyboard four octaves in either direction for a total of 10 octaves. The X/Y joystick provides a simple and effective pitch and modulation control simultaneously.
The MPK Mini MKIII comes with everything you need to start creating, including the fully functional DAW, MPC Beats, which incorporates the best parts of the legendary MPC workflow. You’ll find all the essential tools for pro production. Edit samples, mix down tracks with professional-grade audio effects, find any sound with the same synth engines found in the legendary MPCs, record audio, and much more.
MPC Beats also hosts AU/VST plug-ins, offering complete compatibility with industry-standard virtual studio technology. Or use MPC Beats as a plug-in in any DAW for effortless integration into existing setups. This complete music production starter kit includes more than 1500+ sounds and six virtual instruments such as Bassline, Tubesynth, Electric, Hybrid 3, Mini Grand, and Velvet, plus 2GB of content.
