Allen & Heath Releases New ZED Series Mixers

Allen & Heath have already made a big splash with their ZED-Series line of compact, affordable mixers aimed at studio, broadcast, and live PA applications. The newest models include the ZED6 and ZED6FX, which are compact mixers that include two mic/line inputs with separate XLR and TRS connectors, two stereo inputs with TRS connectors, and two high-impedance Guitar DI inputs, which eliminate the need for DI boxes. Additional features include low-cut filters, a 2-band EQ, and a 60mm master bus fader. The ZED6FX adds an internal high-quality FX engine with tap tempo.

Also new to the ZED Series are the hybrid compact ZEDi8, ZEDi10, and ZEDi10FX, which have a high-quality USB audio interface with resolutions of up to 24-bit/96 kHz. The ZEDi8 offers two mic/line inputs, two stereo inputs, and two high-impedance guitar inputs, as well as a 2-in/2-out interface. The ZEDi10 and ZED10iFX offer four mic/line inputs, two stereo line inputs, and two guitar DI inputs, as well as a 4-in/4-out USB audio interface and a 3-band EQ. The ZEDi10FX adds an internal high-quality FX engine with tap tempo. All of the ZEDi compact hybrid mixers ship with Cubase LE software for Mac/PC as well as Cubasis LE app for iPads.

All of the new ZED mixers feature a new preamp design created by Mike Griffin and borrowed from the highly acclaimed GS-R24 studio recording console. The GS pre delivers low noise, high headroom, and the warmth and depth that Allen & Heath’s analog range of mixers are famous for. The EQ has been upgraded as well and feature MusiQ EQ controls that are carefully calibrated for responsiveness and precision. The enclosures are well built and ready to withstand the rigors and wear and tear on the road. The new ZED Compact series mixers are equally at home on the road or in the studio.
