Apogee Announces the All-New Symphony I/O MK II

0Share

Apogee has announced its next-generation flagship audio interface, Symphony I/O MK II, a multi-channel audio interface featuring Apogee’s latest AD/DA conversion, modular I/O (up to 32 inputs and 32 outputs), an intuitive touchscreen and front panel control, and optional world-class microphone preamps. Apogee engineers have improved upon the previous version by using the latest components and designing circuitry that exceeds the expectations of the component manufacturers. This new flagship interface promises better audio clarity and sonic transparency than its predecessor.

The touchscreen interface uses a high-resolution TFT display to deliver all of the visual feedback critical for recording and monitoring, with visual feedback of up to 64 channels of I/O, signal levels, polarity, muting, phantom power, and Soft Limit. The MK II now features Dynamic Temperature Control, which features advanced controls to keep the unit running quietly at an ideal temperature, with an improved fan and chassis-ventilation design.

The Symphony I/O MKII is compatible with all of the previous I/O modules, but has redesigned the 8 x 8 and 16 x 16 modules using the most streamlined circuit to provide the most transparent path to the A/D stage as possible. This new design utilizes a dual conversion stage, offering the lowest distortion and greatest dynamic range of any converter ever designed by Apogee. The headphone amplifier has also been upgraded to provide audiophile-grade headphone monitoring with Constant Current Drive, a technology first introduced in the Apogee Groove, which dynamically compensates for nonlinearities of any connected headphone and maintains extremely low distortion and a linear frequency response.

The system is available in four configurations, including 2 x 6, 8 x 8, 16 x 16, and 8 x 8+MP, and is offered for three platforms including the now-shipping Thunderbolt, with ProTools HD, and Waves SoundGrid Network, available later this year.
