0Share

The Korg Liverpool Professional Arranger harnesses the power of Lennon & McCartney, the songwriting duo of the world’s most recognizable and commercially successful band, The Beatles—a band that literally changed the face of music in the 1960s and still influences musicians and music lovers. The Liverpool offers 100 timeless songs built into its memory, including twenty USA single chart hits, such as “All You Need is Love”, “A Hard Day’s Night”, “Can’t Buy Me Love”, and more. The arranger features built-in stereo speakers and allows you to play piano along with up to eight backing tracks and offers the ability to mute the bass and/or guitar for minus-one playing of your favorite songs. Additionally, you can practice at a slower tempo without changing the pitch or transpose the songs to your liking. You can even rearrange the songs to create your own custom versions of the classics.

The Liverpool features sixty-four Lennon & McCartney styles, with up to four functions per style for adding intros, fills, and endings. Additional styles from the Korg microARRANGER have been added to further expand the creative possibilities. The instrument makes for an excellent keyboard choice for a band and includes a vast collection of sounds including piano, electric piano, and organ, as well as guitar, bass, strings, brass, and drum sounds that can also be used with the styles. Four built-in stereo effects (89 effect types) provide the finishing touches to the overall sound from performance to output.

The arranger offers a 61-key natural-touch mini-keyboard with velocity sensitivity and 62-voice polyphony. The multi-timbre architecture provides 40 tracks with two 16-part sequencers, plus four keyboard tracks, and four pad tracks. The onboard tone generator utilizes the Hyper Integrated synthesis system (Hi synthesis) and includes 32MB of PCM ROM (with Stereo Piano Sound). There are 662 preset programs, 33 drum kits, 128 user programs, and 64 user drum kits. Program editing is full featured and easy.

The 240 styles are reconfigurable, with up to eight accompaniment tracks, and all style performances are programmable (except the Liverpool style). Style elements include Intro 1/2, Ending 1/2, Fill 1/2, Count In/Break, and 4 Variations. Each style can memorize a maximum of 36 chord variations.

The physical connections include control inputs for a damper pedal and an assignable pedal/switch. Audio connections include left/mono, right, and stereo headphone outputs and a stereo mini-jack input for incorporating other music playback devices. Additionally, MIDI in and out ports are available. The custom backlit LCD not only displays arrangement parameters functions, but will also display lyrics. The integrated speaker system offers two 5W full-range speakers for true stereo operation. The Liverpool offers an Objective Portable Operating System (OPOS), with a multi-task system that allows you to load while playing, features an upgradeable operating system, and storage via SSD.

The physical controls on the keyboard include a joystick, dial, volume, and accompaniment/sequencer volume balance, as well as a programmable data slider. There are dedicated switches for most functions, including transport controls for both sequencers, style elements, tap tempo, groove quantize, transpose, memory, split point, chord scanning, and much more.

The Korg Liverpool is a fantastic arranger that will be at home with music enthusiasts and serious musicians. At 9.3 lb, the instrument is well suited for portable applications and touring, but functions equally as well in the studio for recording. If you are a fan of the Beatles, this may become your instrument of choice!
