Denon DJ: Prime Series Professional DJ Mixer and Players

0Share

Denon DJ raised the bar for professional DJ equipment with the release of its Prime Series Eco-System, which includes the X1800 Prime DJ Club Mixer, SC5000 Prime DJ Media Player, and VL12 Prime Direct Drive Turntable. Each component in the series is aimed to top the current “industry standard,” and they have even coined the catch phrase “Change your Rider” to refer to them.

The X1800 Prime is a 4-channel Pro DJ club mixer that operates at 24-bit/96 kHz resolution for uncompromised sound with professional quality results. The mixer is designed with a familiar layout, but with new features that ensure “next-level” performance. Each channel offers the standard level control and three-band EQ (with selectable classic or Isolation styles), but also includes a dedicated LPF and HPF, as well as Sweep FX with effects settings including Dub Echo, Noise, Wash Out, and Gate. Time your sounds perfectly with the Effects Quantization Touch Strip, and lock the rhythm of your desired sweeps and effects in step with the tempo of the music. Each of the four channels provides analog phono and CD line inputs, as well as digital inputs via coaxial RCA connectors. The master output section offers XLR and RCA outputs, while the booth output features ¼" connectors and a dedicated digital master output via coaxial RCA. Dedicated stereo ¼" send-and-return jacks allow you to connect an outboard effects processor, while the standard 5-pin DIN MIDI output allows for the connection of MIDI-based effects and instruments. The crisp OLED screen provides precise menu adjustments that are easily seen in dark environments, and dual USB jacks allow for connections to audio and software devices. The X1800 is also equipped with a LAN Hub to connect to four SC5000 Media Player players or accessories for networked operation.

The SC5000 Prime is a professional DJ media player with a 7" multi-touch display that features a dedicated, multi-core internal processor that runs “Engine Prime,” Denon DJ’s music librarian software. This affords the convenience of processing your tracks without the need of a computer because the onboard software analyzes the qualities of your music files in real time, giving you a beat-grid analysis that locks-in control loops, slices, hot-cues, and more with synchronicity and accuracy. The high-definition, high-contrast display enables multi-touch gestures for latency-free, tactile track navigation, load, and playback. The SC5000’s unique dual-deck playback facility makes the unit literally “two decks in one,” and features dual independent outputs and control over each layer, while the 8" touch-reactive jog wheel features a central display for showing either the current playing track's artwork, custom artwork, or artist logo. The player also includes eight multi-function trigger pads that deliver creative expression for your hot cues, loops, slices, roll playback, with every performance locked to the super-accurate beat-grid analysis. Up to four players can be LAN-networked for synchronized data transfer between units, plus enhanced BPM and FX possibilities using "Engine Connect" protocol to work with Denon DJ's new X1800 Prime 4-channel mixer.

The VL12 Prime is a professional direct drive turntable with true quartz lock, delivering an exhilarating “hands-on” performance experience. The deck offers an all-metal tone arm base and brushed-metal controls to ensure durability, as well as an isolated motor design for optimal signal-to-noise, an adjustable pitch range (±8%, 16%, 50%), and isolation feet to protect against vibrations and feedback from being introduced into the signal. It has been specifically designed to accommodate all sorts of performance settings, including bass-heavy environments and, as such, can handle almost any manner of DJ sets. The VL12 also offers a customizable platter light ring that can be set to a multitude of colors with adjustable brightness, as well as a “lights-out” mode.
