As a proven producer of drones and stabilized cameras, it was really no surprise when DJI’s first wireless microphone offering, the DJI Mic 2-Person system, turned out to be a big hit with mobile journalists, on-camera personalities, and content creators looking to raise their audio production values. But if you’re consistently only shooting a single on-camera talent, you may have been reluctant to invest in a two-transmitter system. Well, hesitate no more―DJI has just announced the DJI Mic 1-Person Wireless Microphone System, which pares the system down to a single clip-on transmitter/mic at a more attractive price point.
A Clip-On Mic/Transmitter with Back-Up Recording
If you’re new to the DJI Mic, the feature set is truly impressive. The ultracompact transmitter weighs only 1 oz and features a built-in omnidirectional microphone, so you don’t have to spend time miking up your subject with a lavalier during quick run-and-gun-style shoots and interviews. Simply use the integrated back clip (or included clip magnet) to attach the transmitter to your talent and you’re ready to go. A furry wind muff is supplied to reduce wind noise on outdoor shoots. Of course, if you have the time and prefer a more discreet visual look, you can plug a compatible lav mic (available separately) into the 3.5mm input jack and use the transmitter bodypack style. The unit’s built-in rechargeable battery will power it for up to 5.5 hours. The system transmits in the 2.4 GHz range, so occasionally you may get interference from other devices operating in this spectrum, especially if you’re shooting in environments with heavy Wi-Fi traffic. But the DJI Mic has a little trick up its sleeve; simply engage the backup recording mode on the transmitter and record up to 14 hours of audio to the unit’s 8GB internal memory and save that perfect take like a hero.
A Dual-Channel Receiver for Cameras and Smartphones
On the other end of the wireless transmission is the dual-channel receiver, which can receive encrypted audio transmissions at a range of up to 820' and mounts on your camera’s shoe mount. The components pair up automatically, making setup a hassle-free affair. The receiver features a 3.5mm output jack to connect to your camera, and a second 3.5mm headphone jack is also supplied. The receiver is also ready to work with your smartphone or tablet: simply attach either the USB-C or Lightning adapter (both included) to the expansion port and you can plug it directly into your device. A vivid OLED screen with metering makes it easy to tweak settings and check levels. A Safety Track mode can also be engaged, which outputs a secondary audio track at -6 dB lower volume for use as a backup recording. The receiver will run for up to five hours on a single charge and a splitter charging cable is included, along with a carrying case for all the components.

Only 33% cheaper than the 2 - MIC. Definitely better off with the 2 mic for possibility of having a second person.
