DPA Microphones Announces the Next-Gen DPA 6388 CORE+ Headset Microphone

DPA has announced the release of the new DPA 6388 CORE+, a directional feature-rich headset microphone designed for theater, broadcast, conference, and live stage/house of worship applications.

As an evolution of DPA’s previous 4088 CORE+ headset microphone, the new DPA 6388 CORE+ sports superior feedback rejection, better SPL handling, and higher dynamic range, while improving the comfort, durability, visual integration, and overall “wearability” of the headset.

The most interesting change from DPA’s previous headset mics is the switch to an angled supercardioid polar pattern—this change gives the DPA 6388 CORE+ much more controlled directionality and better consistency across the frequency spectrum. The shifted acoustical axis points at roughly 30˚relative to the physical axis of the boom, allowing the microphone to be positioned slightly off the corner of a speaker or singer’s mouth, maintaining a consistent and optical pickup across different users and fitting conditions.

The DPA 6388 CORE+ comes in beige, brown, and black, along with four different terminal connection types: Microlock, LEMO 3-pin, TA4F Mini-XLR, and Mini-jack/locking 3.5mm. Also included are two foam windscreens, a makeup cover, and a newly designed zip case with a clear front window for quick identification of termination/capsule type and color.
