Adding to its growing ecosystem of professional wireless mics, Deity Microphones has released the Pocket Wireless, an ultracompact, clip-on digital wireless microphone system capable of working with your DSLR/mirrorless camera one day and livestreaming on your smartphone or laptop the next. It is available in black, white, and as a Mobile Kit to maximize the video-capturing capabilities when using a smartphone.

The Pocket Wireless was developed for solo creators and DIY videographers recording interviews or vlogs, and for people videoconferencing or teaching classes from home. It offers a set of problem-solving features that will come in handy when working in the field without a crew, including a high-quality omnidirectional lavalier mic with locking 3.5mm connector to ensure that it doesn’t detach at a critical moment, an analog limiter to keep the signal from clipping or distorting automatically, and a high-visibility OLED display on the receiver for indoor/outdoor use. Simple and easy to operate, the system comes pre-paired at the factory—just turn the transmitter and receiver on and you’re ready to shoot!

The Pocket Wireless borrows technology from the company’s more advanced wireless systems to deliver clear and reliable 24-bit/48 kHz audio over 2.4 GHz. Using a proprietary protocol, the transmitter outputs a staggering 25mW of RF power for solid signal strength at a range up to 210', even when the talent blocks the transmitter’s line of sight to the receiver.

Measuring only 1.3 x 2.1 x 0.8" and weighing just 1.1 oz, the ultracompact transmitter acts as either a quick-and-easy clip-on wireless microphone, thanks to a high-quality built-in omnidirectional condenser capsule, or as a bodypack transmitter for the lavalier microphone via the locking 3.5mm TRS input.

The equally compact receiver also measures 1.3 x 2.1 x 0.8" and weighs only 1.2 oz, making it easy to mount on your camera or smartphone without adding much weight. Controls on the receiver are kept at a minimum with an On/Off button, a pair button, and a volume button to control the microphone gain on the transmitter―wirelessly from the receiver. A bright OLED screen displays battery life (for both TX and RX), audio levels, signal strength, audio gain, and recording status (when paired with the Deity HD-TX, not included). The display rotates to accommodate different mounting options.

Both transmitter and receiver are equipped with dual-function clips that act as belt clips and cold-shoe mounts. They operate up to 5 hours on rechargeable lithium-ion batteries and can also be powered via USB, even while in use, giving you near-unlimited operating time.

All the essential accessories are included to help you capture crisp, clean audio to just about any device, right out of the box. There is a USB Type-C to 3.5mm TRRS cable that automatically adapts itself to work with any 3.5mm audio input into which you plug it. It will work with any smartphone/tablet equipped with a headphone jack or DSLR/mirrorless camera and audio recorder on the market. The USB Type-C to USB Type-C is for use with Android devices and iPads.

The USB Type-C to USB Type-A cable is for plugging the receiver into your Mac/Windows laptop, turning the Pocket Wireless into a USB mic for hands-free presentations and remote teaching using apps like Zoom, Teams, Discord, and others. It is also used for recharging the system. A fur windshield for the lav mic and a rigid carrying case for the system are also provided.

$169 is a great price. I have their BP-TX duo system. and the sound is very good for the price. I would like to see this become a duo-mic kit with internal recording for v2, but this is a great intro competitor against Rode.
