Known for their portable Bluetooth and outdoor party speakers, JBL is now establishing itself in the premium home audio market with the release of the JBL Cove lineup of multiroom home speakers with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. These new products are designed to streamline the management of a multiroom home speaker system, setting itself apart from the competition by making the enjoyment of music easier than ever before.
JBL is offering three new models: the entry-level Cove M1 and high-end Cove X1 are scalable wall-socket powered home audio systems, while the new Cove P1 is a battery powered portable audio system. All are able to connect with one another, allowing for two to combine to act as a wide stereo system, and for multiple to link together to have playlists run throughout the home or to have each speaker set the vibes for each room—you can even pair them with a JBL Bar MK2 to create a full surround sound cinematic audio system.
All three can play back spatial audio via Dolby Atmos and can connect to music, podcast, and audiobook streaming services like AirPlay, Google Cast, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect, Roon Ready, and more.
While the JBL One app is always there when you need it, the JBL Cove series has some advanced features to help simplify the process:
- Auracast allows you to broadcast audio to all JBL Cove speakers at once without individual pairing
- Constant Sound Field keeps sound balanced throughout any space in the room (great when placing the speaker in a corner or by a wall)
- AI Sound Boost reduces distortion at high volumes and controls dynamics at low levels
- The new Music Follows Me feature allows the music to follow you into the room you’re in with a simple long press of the Moment button.
- Alexa+ functionality allows you to adjust volume and settings, check on your smart home devices, or set dates on your calendar hands free.
The portable JBL Cove P1 can playback audio via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and USB, and is rated for up to 14 hours of battery life with an IP56 water and dust resistance rating, so you don’t have to sweat when taking it out to the pool or the beach.
