Yamaha has announced the release of three new synthesizers, whose sound engine is based on the same technology powering the flagship MONTAGE. The MODX utilizes the Advanced Wave Memory 2 (AWM2) sample and synthesis engine, which incorporates data compression without sacrificing sound quality, as well as a pure Frequency Modulation (FM-X) synthesizer for the creation of modern sounding instruments and complex sound design.
The three available models include the MODX6, MODX7, and MODX8, each with 61, 76, and 88 keys, respectively. The instruments provide a wide range of creative features designed to empower your creativity in the studio and on stage. Bring the sophistication of music production automation to real-time live performance with Motion Control, while the Super Knob controls multiple parameters simultaneously for highly expressive sound interaction. Additionally, Motion Sequences drive synthesizer parameters through rhythmic control data that you can interact with in real time.
The MODX offers sophisticated communication with a computer, allowing you to send ten and receive four channels of audio, plus 16 channels of MIDI via a single USB cable. A dedicated set of A/D inputs process external audio sources with the instrument's DSP. For live performance setups, the Live Sets feature allows for performance organization without copying, renaming, or reordering, while the Direct Control Assignment assigns controls at the touch of a button. The four-part "Seamless Sound Switching" function allows you to change performances while holding notes without sound or effect cutoff. An integrated Envelope Follower allows you to generate control data for synthesizer parameters via internal and external audio signals.
The new MODX-Series synthesizers offer great value, harnessing the power of a Montage in a more affordable package. For more details about the MODX-Series synthesizers and other new Yamaha instruments, check out the B&H website.
