M-Audio, a company that is well known for its computer interfaces, studio integration solutions, and keyboard and controller products, has released two new interfaces aimed at the home and project-studio owner. The C-Series M-Track 2x2M audio/MIDI interface and the M-Track 2x2 audio interface offer high-definition recording and playback, with resolutions up to 192 kHz/24-bit, in a desktop form factor.
The M-Track 2x2M is a professional studio-quality recording and monitoring interface that includes two mic/line inputs, two instrument inputs, MIDI I/O, and two monitor outputs in a compact, pro-grade metal chassis with a large centralized knob. The onboard Crystal microphone preamps are engineered from the ground up to be transparent, with low noise to capture your performance the way it was intended to be heard. The inclusion of +48V phantom power allows for compatibility with all microphones including high-quality condenser microphones. The mic/line inputs utilize a combo XLR-1/4" connector allowing for any source to be recorded, while the separate ¼" instrument input features a tailor-made gain and impedance stage designed to capture a pristine, accurate guitar or bass DI signal. The two studio-quality ¼" outputs allow you to monitor your recordings with confidence. MIDI input and output is available from the full-sized 5-pin DIN connectors. The 2x2M connects to your computer via USB or USB-C via the included set of cables. Simply install the drivers, connect to your Mac or PC, and start recording. By using the premium high-speed USB-C connection and the USB/Direct Balance knob, one can achieve latency recording and monitoring, allowing you to focus on your performance.
The M-Track 2x2 utilizes the same technology for high-performance studio-quality recording and monitoring as the 2x2M, but with no MIDI I/O and fewer inputs. The 2x2 features a single combo XLR-1/4" mic/line input using the Crystal microphone preamp with +48V phantom power and a single ¼" instrument input with the same tailor-made gain and impedance stage for recording guitar and bass DI signals. The unit ships with two USB cables for compatibility with Mac and PC with standard USB 2.0 and the premium high-speed USB-C connection. Zero latency recording is possible by utilizing the USB-C connection with the USB/Direct Balance knob.
To get you recording right away, both the M-Track 2x2M and 2x2 ship with a copy of the professional DAW software Cubase LE. Additional AIR effects and instruments include the Creative FX Collection with 20 world-class effects, Mini Grand, a virtual piano instrument, Strike, a dynamic drum arranger, and Xpand2, a multi-timbral virtual instrument workstation with more than 2,500 instrument presets and parts.
