Moog Subsequent 37 CV

The Subsequent 37 CV is a limited-edition redesign of the original Sub 37 Tribute Edition analog synthesizer with a modified signal path, an upgraded keybed for improved playability, a high-powered headphone amplifier, and assignable CV & Gate outputs for interfacing with large-format and Eurorack modular systems.

Like the original Sub 37 Tribute, the Subsequent 37 features mono or duo-phonic modes, a 37-note velocity-sensitive keyboard with aftertouch, two modulation busses with assignable source and destinations, DAHDSR (Delay, Attack, Hold, Decay, Sustain, Release) looping envelopes with sync, 256 presets (16 banks x 16 patches), a syncable arpeggiator and step sequencer, and the classic Moog ladder filter with resonance, multidrive, and selectable filter slopes. For more information and demos, check out the highly-informative “Hands-On Review Video” of the Sub 37 Tribute Edition.

The Subsequent 37’s mixer now has double the headroom of the Sub 37, allowing for greater definition to each oscillator and external input. Taking advantage of the mixer’s newfound flexibility, the gain-staging of the ladder filter has been reshaped to boost harmonic saturation and analog compression. The Multidrive circuit has also been redesigned for an even wider pallet of grit and growl that extends well beyond the original Sub 37.

The new side panel offers four assignable CV outputs and two assignable Gate outputs that allow extensive routing of internal sources to outboard modular synthesizers. The CV output sources include: Keyboard Pitch, Velocity, Aftertouch, Mod 1, Mod 1 x Control, Mod 2, Mod 2 x Control, Filter Envelope Generator, Amp Envelope Generator, Pitch Wheel, Mod Wheel, Sequencer Mod, and Duo Pitch. The Gate output sources include: Keyboard Gate, External Gate, Arp/Seq Clock, Arp/Seq Run/Stop, Arp/Seq Step 1 Trigger, Filter Envelope Generator Trigger, Amp Envelope Trigger, LFO 1 Rate, and LFO 2 Rate.

The upgraded keybed is lightweight with swift action, velocity, and aftertouch, while the redesigned headphone amplifier offers a louder and clearer output, well suited for live-sound stage environments. The enclosure is anchored by a pair of solid aluminum side pieces inset with North American hardwood and affixed to a rugged steel and aluminum panel. The Subsequent 37 CV is truly a limited-edition model with only a production run of 2000 pieces worldwide. Like all Moog synthesizers, each instrument is lovingly handcrafted by Moog employees in Ashville, NC.
