NAMM 2018: Arturia Unleashes Unrestrained Analog Instruments and Eurorack Enclosures

0Share

Arturia has announced its latest lineup of fantastic hardware synthesizers and Eurorack enclosures, including the MiniBrute 2 and the MiniBrute 2S, as well as the 3U and 6U RackBrute enclosures, which include the Link fastening system with included handle. The RackBrutes are easily integrated with the latest MiniBrutes, offering a wide selection of expansion options via Eurorack modular compatible modules.

The MiniBrute 2 is semi-modular with a 48-point patchbay, which allows for some impressive functionality not possible on a fixed architecture synthesizer. The instrument features the same all-analog sound with two distinct VCOs, Steiner-Parker multi-mode filter, Brute Factor filter overdrive, and an onboard sequencer/arpeggiator with eight sequence memories with 64-steps each. The 25-note velocity-sensitive keyboard now includes assignable aftertouch. With the patchbay, it is entirely possible to split and control the VCOs separately, allowing for duophonic operation. The envelopes available include a standard ADSR and an AD with looping capabilities. Additionally, there are two LFOs to round out this little powerhouse.

The MiniBrute 2S includes all the enhancements of the MiniBrute 2, but instead of a 25-note keyboard, this smaller desktop unit offers velocity and pressure sensitive performance pads and a triple-layer, monophonic sequencer that works very much like Arturia’s popular KeyStep controller. Use one track to control notes, while tracks two and three can be used to sequence parameters like gates, CV, LFOs, and envelopes. The sequencer can record in real time or by step editing. The MiniBrute 2S can be integrated in the Arturia RackBrute system, giving you a creative hub to house and control your modular gear.

Available in 3U and 6U configurations, the RackBrute System is designed and built to integrate with the MiniBrute 2 and MiniBrute 2S instruments. The metal-and-wood rack enclosures boast an integrated power system and rugged construction, capable of powering several modules while providing protection from the rigors of on-the-road wear and tear. The included handle is part of the Link fastening system and not only provides ease in transport, but offers up to 6 positions for fine-tuning the placement of your gear. Each case includes two retractable stops, which provide protection for when you are traveling. The stops rest on the adjacent case/instrument and allow you to keep your instrument fully patched while on the go.

The RackBrute 3U offers 88 HP (horizontal pitch) for modules and includes a power supply module (5 HP), and noise-filtered power rails, which accommodates 20 standard power slots (2 x 10-slot zones with 800mA on +12V and on -12V). The RackBrute 6U offers 176 HP for modules and includes a 5 HP power supply module and noise-filtered power rails, which includes 32 standard power slots (2 x 10-slot zones with 800mA on +12V and on -12V).

An optional RackBrute travel case will also be available and provides durable protection while you’re on the go. The case allows the carry handle to slip through for ease in transport, while an accessory pocket stores the power supply and patch cables. A removeable shoulder strap is also included.
