Numark has been providing cutting-edge DJ technology for more than 40 years, and has been highly respected for its technical contributions and forward-thinking products. As far back as 1971, with the popularization of disco, Numark has developed a following for its mixers, turntables, and speaker enclosures. Today, Numark is one of the largest manufactures of DJ equipment, worldwide. Building on the success of the original NS6 controller, Numark has released the NS6II, which delivers some advanced features, including two USB ports and built-in high-resolution screens in the jog wheels.
The NS6II is a professional Serato DJ controller with an integrated 24-bit / 44.1 kHz audio interface. The two USB ports allow for DJ handoffs, with each performer having their own computer connected to the same controller. The NS6II features two 6" multi-function touch-capacitive jog wheels with integrated high-resolution and full-color LCDs, which display the BPM, platter position, time remaining, pitch adjustment, and keylock. Additionally, the frequency knobs are also touch-capacitive, allowing for simple touch adjustment of low, mid, and high frequencies during a mix.
The rear panel offers a variety of input and output connectors. Channels 3 and 4 of the mixer can be switched between PC and line. PC provides decks 3 and 4 from Serato DJ, while selecting “line” allows the two stereo RCA connectors on the rear to accommodate media players and turntables. The master output is available on two balanced XLR connectors (L/R) and unbalanced stereo RCA connectors, while the booth output is available on stereo RCA connectors. There are two ¼" microphone inputs for incorporating MCs and performers into a set. The front of the controller offers controls for both microphones, including a level knob, as well as high- and low-frequency knobs. There are also cue controls for headphone monitoring with cue and program mixing, split cue, and a gain knob for controlling the level for two sets of headphone outputs (1/4" and 1/8").
The main panel offers control for each of the four channels including gain, 3-band EQ, a dedicated hi/low filter knob, and level faders. An assignable crossfader also includes a contour knob for customizing between smooth fades and quick cuts. Each deck features dedicated FX buttons, strip search for navigating tracks, and eight performance pads for a variety of functions including hot cues, auto loop/roll, manual loop mode, sampler, and slicer. The NS6II ships with a USB cable, power adapter, and a software download card for a full version of Serato DJ for true plug-’n’-play operation.
