The B&H Audio Department is pleased to announce Novation’s latest USB MIDI controller, the Launchkey Mini MK3, with 25 high-quality mini keys, 16 velocity-sensitive RGB pads, eight rotary controls, pitch and mod touch strips, and a sustain input. The controller is Novation’s most compact and portable keyboard controller to date and features some advanced features, such as a programmable arpeggiator and a fixed chord mode, as well as deep integration with Ableton Live, Logic Pro, and Reason. There are dedicated controls for transpose up/down (with preset function as shift), play and record buttons, and arp and fixed chord buttons. The rear panel provides a USB port, a Kensington MiniSaver slot, and a 3.5mm jack socket for MIDI. The socket is compatible with standard 5-pin DIN MIDI connections via an optional DIN break-out cable.
The creative arpeggiator offers a variety of modes including up, down, up/down, played, random, chord, and mutate. Additionally, there is a rhythm mode which provides o, oxo, oxxo, random, and deviate modes. With the mutate mode and deviate rhythm modes, it is possible to create inspiring patterns quickly and easily without a ton of programming. The fixed chord mode allows one to play chords with a single finger.
The comprehensive DAW integration includes scripts and device control with support for Ableton Live, Logic, and Reason. Other DAWs such as Pro Tools, Reaper, and Studio One may be controlled through the HUI protocol. Take control of volume, pan, sends, record, play, presets, and assign custom controls. Ableton Live offers the most complete integration, providing volume, pan, sends A and B, record and play controls, and the ability to assign custom mapping to knobs and pads, as well as track and scene navigation.
The Launchkey Mini MK3 includes a comprehensive set of software tools to help you get started straight away. Ableton Live Lite, AAS Session Bundle, Softube Time and Tone Bundle, Spitfire Audio Labs – Expressive Strings, XLN Audio Addictive Keys, and Klevgrand R0Verb & DAW Cassette, as well as access to the Novation Sound Collective, which offers new, free content every few months.
