Building upon the success of the original, the XDJ-1000MK2 inherits some advanced features from the popular CDJ-2000NXS2, including the same sized jog wheel, 7” touchscreen, digital outputs, eight hot cues, and full quantization. The XDJ-1000MK2 is a high-resolution media player that not only plays MP3, AAC, WAV, AIFF, but now supports high-quality FLAC and ALAC sound formats up to 48kHz/24-bit. The coaxial (RCA) connection allows you to digitally connect the player directly to mixer without any degradation of sound. The power supply for the analog audio has been redesigned to be completely separated from the digital circuit to reduce noise.
Files can be played via a USB flash drive, or from a Mac, PC, iOS, or Android device. Two decks can be networked together using the Pioneer Pro DJ Link via a standard Ethernet cable. Up to four decks or laptops can be networked together using an optional Ethernet switch or a wireless router can be used to stream tracks from your phone or tablet. When combined with rekordbox, you get enhanced performance features and track info, such as Beat Countdown, Beat Jump, and Beat Sync, which utilizes grid information from tracks that are analyzed by rekordbox and locks tempo and beat position for automatic synchronization of multiple tracks.
The 7” touchscreen provides access and control over a variety of parameters including Browsing, Keyword Search, Track Filter, Wave/Wave Zoom, Needle Search, Beat Jump/Loop, Hot Cue, and Auto Beat Loop. Browsing is achieved by way of the rotary button next to the display or use the Qwerty keyboard to search for specific keywords. Matching and Track Filter allow you to input info such as BPM and Key to help you find the right track at the right time. Wave/Wave Zoom can display the entire composition or zoom in with frequency bands that are color-coded. Needle Search allows you to touch the overall waveform with your finger to instantly play the tune next to the touched one, while Beat Jump/Loop Move allows you to adjust the playing position with the specified beat count instantly, providing a wide range of beats that can be improvised without changing the music rhythm. Set up and trigger Hot Cues to playback cue points, while the Auto Beat Loop play prepared loops automatically based on the tempo of the music.
The unit also features “My Settings”, which allows you to prepare your system’s preferences in rekordbox and save them to USB, smartphones, and tablets. Once you engage your media library, your settings instantly switch for quick and easy customization while trading off in the DJ booth. The XDJ-1000MK2 offers incredible value with a host of features found only on Pioneer’s flagship models, but at a fraction of the cost.
