When PLAYdifferently released the MODEL 1, it raised the bar on DJ mixers: Designed by distinguished alumni from Allen & Heath, the MODEL 1 brought analog filtering and harmonic overdrive to its channels, lending the analog warmth from classic consoles to the DJ Mixer environment. Instead of internal effects, the MODEL 1 offered two auxiliary sends with built-in stereo returns. This six-channel mixer was so revered, it inspired the competition to meet it at its level.
Now, the MODEL 1 is available at B&H. Think of it as an analog performance instrument in a DJ-mixer form factor. It carries six input channels in its small frame, giving you controls over the Input preamp drive, a dual cue system, a system for linking two mixers, and fully balanced connections with pro-quality DB250 connections.
There's more: A sweepable parametric EQ plus contouring high- and low-pass filters will undoubtedly come in handy; no fixed frequencies here—you can truly mix for effect or to suit the environment better. With a fully balanced mix-bus and high-voltage differential power rails, the MODEL 1 gives DJs the clean yet impactful sound of large-format consoles.
The MODEL 1 is a six-channel mixer, but the company is newly releasing the MODEL 1.4. This is a more compact four-channel take on the MODEL 1, offering pure analog resonant filters, studio-grade TKD 60mm faders, a sculpting EQ section, three bands of Master EQ, two bands of Booth EQ, and mixer linking: Pair it with the original MODEL 1 for 10-channel mixing experiments.
