For more than 20 years, Roland has been supplying powerful keyboard amplifiers and personal percussion monitors for the professional musician. The KC amps are widely known for their power, high-fidelity sound, onboard mixing features, versatile connectivity, and lasting durability. Roland’s latest offering includes the KC-400, the KC-600, and the flagship KC-990. The PM-100 and PM-200 are portable percussion monitors designed for Roland’s V-Drum digital drum sets and offer professional-level sounds for drummers.
The KC-990 is a great all-in-one solution for players with large keyboard setups and small groups performing with electronic instruments and backing tracks. This powerhouse offers onboard DSP effects, four stereo input channels, a stereo aux input, and support for an XLR vocal mic. The KC-990 features a 320W amplifier, which drives two newly developed custom 12" woofers and two custom horn tweeters. Stereo line outputs are provided on both XLR and ¼-inch jacks, offering simultaneous connections for interfacing with PA systems, stage monitors, and recording devices. The XLR outputs also have a switchable ground lift, which eliminates hum that can sometimes occur when connecting to a main PA. A stereo link function works for chaining two KC-990 together for stereo operation, while the casters and side-mounted handles help with transport.
The KC-600 is an update to the highly popular KC-550 and features a newly designed 15" woofer and a redesigned power amp (200W) and universal power supply to provide increased stability, improved bass reproduction, and reduced weight. Like the KC-990, the KC-550 also features an onboard mixer with four stereo input channels, stereo auxiliary input, and master EQ with Shape switch. Channel one offers an XLR microphone input, while Channel four features the convenient Output Select function, offering flexibility for monitoring and guide tracks while performing. Stereo line outputs are provided on both XLR and 1/4-inch jacks, offering simultaneous connections for interfacing with PA systems, stage monitors, and recording devices. There’s also a Sub Out jack for connecting to a powered subwoofer, with level conveniently tied to the amp’s master volume for one-touch control.
The 150W KC-400 updates the previous-generation KC-350 with a newly designed 12" woofer and a redesigned power section with better stability, enhanced bass reproduction, and reduced weight. With the KC-400’s built-in mixer, you’re able to connect a variety of stereo keyboards and instruments, plus an XLR vocal mic. And via the Stereo Link function, you can easily chain a second KC-400 for more inputs and true stereo amplification on stage.
The PM-200 and PM-100 are premium all-in-one monitors with an angled design to provide ideal coverage for the seated player. The integrated mixer offers independent volume controls and a global EQ. There is a dedicated V-Drum input, plus 1/4" and 1/8" line inputs for connecting electronic percussion pads, smartphones, and music players. The full-width bar handle provides easy floor adjustment and carrying convenience. The PM-100 features a full-band audio system with 80W of power, custom 10" woofer, and tweeter, while the PM-200 ups the ante with 180W of power, a custom 12” woofer, and horn tweeter. Additionally, the PM-200 features two XLR direct outputs, with selectable stereo or dual mono output for a V-Drums module connected in stereo.
