Most MIDI controllers provide basic interactivity. Sure, you can play notes at different velocities, turn some knobs, and push some sliders, but what’s the type of communication that string players get to have? The ROLI Seaboard Block is designed to give keyboard players the type of control normally only experienced through complex finger movements on a violin or cello. It’s portable, expandable, and comes with more than 200 sounds to spark your creativity.
It all starts with the 24-keywave, two-octave playing surface. In addition to providing standard keyboard-style playability, 5D Touch technology delivers response to five types of expression: Strike, Glide, Slide, Press, and Lift. These types of interaction allow you to impact your sound directly in subtle or extreme ways through simple movements, so you can keep both hands on the keyboard and avoid having to reach for a knob or fader.
Use the supplied apps, NOISE and Equator Player, or utilize the BLOCKS Dashboard program to have power over sounds in DAWs such as Ableton Live and Logic Pro X. Since it transmits MIDI over USB and Bluetooth, it can be used with computers, tablets, or smartphones.
Take the Seaboard Block with you as you travel or use it in the studio. It will run for up to 10 hours on its internal battery or you can power it via USB. If you do wish to embolden yourself with a larger setup, expansion is simple. Connect it via integrated magnetic DNA connectors to other ROLI BLOCKS—no wires, just a satisfying magnetic snap and you can have extra controls for scales, arpeggiation, expression range, transport, and more.
Whether you’re a keyboardist, composer, or music producer, consider adding the Seaboard Block to the center of your creative activities. Feel free to stop by the B&H SuperStore or visit our website to check it out!
