Sennheiser Adds the New Closed-Back HD 480 PROs to the Headphone Family

Sennheiser has unveiled the new HD 480 Pro professional recording and monitoring headphones, positioned as their highest tier closed-back pro-audio headphones for monitoring, music production, and mixing (not to be confused with the iconic open-back HD 600 series and audiophile reference-monitoring HD 800 series).

The HD 480s appear to be luxurious workhorses, promising to deliver uncolored frequency response and full-spectrum sound reproduction aimed at those working in the studio or on the go. The new design introduces some key features, such as multiple stages of passive sound shielding to maintain signal integrity, as well as a new Vibration Attenuation System that reduces the reflections and distortion that normally affect sound quality and reproduction in closed-back headphones, resulting in improved low-end clarity.

The Sennheiser HD 480 Pros will feature a comfortable design with angled earcups to optimize transducer placement and a detachable locking cable that can connect to either earcup for easy configuration, along with braille-guided L/R cups and grooved ear pads for those who wear eyeglasses. Additionally, many accessories that were launched with the previously released Sennheiser HD 490 Pros are cross compatible with the HD 480s, including cables and cases.

The Sennheiser HD 480 Pro will also come in a “Pro Plus” version, whose only difference is the upgrade from a headphone bag to a headphone travel case.
