Musicians, DJs, sound engineers, and others looking for a workhorse pair of in-ear headphones will be pleased to hear that Sennheiser has announced a new member in its series of earphones aimed at professional users. The IE 100 PRO follows the IE 500 PRO and IE 400 PRO models and offers the same modular design elements that allow these in-ear models to function as either wired or wireless monitors. By simply attaching either the 3.5mm wired cable or the IE PRO BT wireless Bluetooth cable, the IE 100 PRO can work as a wired IEM ready to plug into gear equipped with a 3.5mm jack, or as a wireless set of in-ear headphones for use with a wide variety of Bluetooth-equipped devices.
The IE 100 has been engineered to replace Sennheiser’s popular IE 40 model, providing a workhorse IEM with a wide frequency range from 20 Hz to 18 kHz and distortion-free performance at SPLs up to 115 dB. The single 10mm dynamic driver eliminates crossover points, helping to reduce the distortion and phase issues that can cause listener fatigue in multi-driver designs. Like the IE 400 and 500 versions, the IE 100 uses Sennheiser’s highly effective earpiece technology to ensure a secure in-ear fit that naturally reduces ambient sound by up to 26 dB, allowing you to monitor at lower volumes and preserve your hearing.
The design features reinforced ear hooks, and four ear tips in foam and silicone are included to help you get a proper fit. A cleaning tool and soft pouch are also supplied.
The IE 100 comes in black, red, and clear versions and can be purchased as the IE 100 PRO Wireless, which includes both a 3.5mm cable and a Bluetooth cable, or as the IE 100 PRO wired version that allows you to pick up an optional Bluetooth cable later.
The Bluetooth cable works with the IE 400 and 500 models and offers the Apt X low-latency codec for synchronized audio and video. The cable features an in-line mic and remote and gives you up to 10 hours of wireless operation on a single charge. In addition, an optional twisted stereo cable is available and a twisted mono cable for discreet, single-ear monitoring is also available.
