Sennheiser Streamlines HD25 On-Ear Headphones

Originally designed for the Concorde supersonic commercial jetliner, Sennheiser developed the HD25 for high-fidelity sound reproduction, noise isolation, and comfort. It wasn’t long before the headphones became a favorite among A-List DJs around the world, as well as professional audio engineers, live sound technicians, and the broadcast community. The newly streamlined product line offers three models, including the HD 25 Classic, HD 25 Light, and the HD 25 Plus.

The HD 25 is a true classic design with the iconic split headband, a 3-foot single-sided connection cable, and a flip-away ear cup for single-sided listening. The newly designed headband allows the ear cups to lock securely into place, while the lightweight aluminum voice coils ensure an excellent transient response. Well suited for any monitoring task, the HD 25 offers a frequency response of 16 Hz to 22 kHz, an impedance of 70 Ohms, and a maximum SPL output of 120dB. The headphones ship with a screw-on 1/4" jack adapter for the included straight steel cable.

The HD 25 Light is the sister model, well suited for entry-level consumers or professionals on a budget who are looking for a good pair of mixing and monitoring headphones. The HD 25 Light features a simpler, single headband with smaller drivers, but delivers a detailed sound with well-defined bass. The headphones provide a frequency response of 30 Hz to 16 kHz, an impedance of 60 Ohms, and a maximum SPL output of 114 dB. The straight, dual-sided 10-foot cable ships with a 1/8 to 1/4" adapter.

The HD 25 Plus is identical to the classic design, but spoils the user with two cables and extra accessories. Users can choose between a coiled 10-foot steel cable and a straight 5-foot steel cable. The Plus version also ships with a protective storage pouch and an additional set of soft velour ear pads.

Like the original design from 1989, the new HD 25 series provides excellent noise isolation with its dynamic, closed-back transducer principal and supra-aural design. Each model is very lightweight and comfortable, even if used for long periods of time. The HD 25 are ideal monitoring headphones for cameramen, DJs, or anyone looking for a pair of true sound professionals’ working headphones.
