Shure Announces MVX2U, an XLR to USB Adapter with Headphone Jack

If you’ve been looking for a quick and easy way to use your favorite XLR microphone for streaming or podcasting duties, then you’ll be very interested in Shure’s new MVX2U. It is an XLR-to-USB interface that provides up to 60 dB of gain and optional 48V phantom power to condenser microphones. The MVX2U is easy for anyone to use and offers customizable control via the Motive app.

The MVX2U replaces Shure’s X2U XLR-USB signal adapter and MVi digital audio interface, both of which allowed you to connect an XLR mic to your computer directly. But this ultra-portable interface offers a much more streamlined form factor, compatibility with the ShurePlus MOTIV desktop app, and substantially more gain; it’s been specifically designed to handle low-output microphones like the SM7B, a popular choice for professional podcasters.

The interface can be plugged directly into your mic’s XLR output or connected inline via cable and connects to your computer’s USB-C port via the included 3.3' cable. A 3.5mm headphone jack is provided for zero-latency monitoring. Use the MOTIV app to get just the right blend of direct input from the mic and audio playback from the computer. The interface’s A/D converter provides 24-bit / 48 kHz audio to your computer and the app even provides an Auto Level Mode that will automatically set the levels for you based on your distance from the mic; it even allows you to customize your vocal tone using the Dark, Natural, or Bright presets. Using Manual Mode, on the other hand, gives you total control over the gain level, limiter, compressor, and EQ settings, so you can completely tailor your sound.

Firmware for the MVX2U is easily updated via USB, ensuring your interface will always have the latest features.
