The Console 1 is an integrated hardware/software centerpiece for DAW systems. Released in 2014, the original took the industry by storm, offering clear and concise “hands-on” control without ever touching a mouse. The Console 1 MKII offers a straightforward and intuitive approach to computer-based mixing that pairs a hardware-based digital mix controller with the sound of an analog Solid State Logic SL 4000 E mixer. On the hardware, you select the channel you want to work with and then adjust EQ, compression, gate, and saturation settings using the physical knobs. There are no confusing MIDI maps to choose from or complicated setup procedures. Console 1 simply works, straight out of the box.
The MKII offers the same build quality as the original, but with a sleeker layout and more visible LED markers. Another benefit over the original is that Softube has been able to streamline its manufacturing process, and is able to pass the savings on to you. If you’d like a different flavor console, users can purchase additional channel strips that faithfully emulate their analog counter parts. Current selections include “British Class A” and “Summit Audio Grand Channel” with more to follow. What’s more, there are more than 60 Console-1-ready plug-ins available with more than 35 plug-ins from Universal Audio’s UAD-2 powered plug-in format including API, Chandler, Fairchild, Harrison, Precision, Pultec, Teletronix, Tonelux, and more.
