Sony has announced the new ECM-AX10 smartphone-mounted microphone, a USB-C mic capable of recording spatial audio for content creation with immersive 3D audio. The ECM-AX10 uses up to four omnidirectional microphone capsules to capture full 3D audio via ambisonics, binaural audio for immersive headphone listening experiences, and stereo for traditional playback—all at a touch of a button.
The Sony ECM-AX10 offers tons of creator-friendly features, including digital noise reduction, a built-in accelerometer (that automatically aligns the audio with the video based on the mic’s orientation), and a 3.5mm headphone jack for real-time monitoring. Immersive audio is compatible with YouTube via the open-source immersive audio app Eclipsa, delivering first-order ambisonics through an easy-to-use interface.
The ECM-AX10 comes with a cold-shoe mic holder, windscreen, extension cable, and spacer sheet, making shooting in indoor or outdoor locations easy. If you’re looking to create content with immersive sound, check out the new Sony ECM-AX10 on our online storefront or in our Midtown superstore!
