4K For Aerophiles and Land-Lovers Alike: YUNEEC Typhoon H and ActionCam

3Share

YUNEEC has just released two exciting new contributions to the world of 4K filmmaking. A new six-rotor UAS with integrated gimbal and camera system, the Typhoon H and a ground-based, gimbal-stabilized camera that is ready to go wherever your adventures take you, the Typoon ActionCam.

Over and above previous Typhoon UAS models, the Typhoon H adds two rotors, which bumps it up to hexa-copter classification and incorporates a front-facing ultra-sonic sensor. Benefits of the hexa-rotor design include improved flight stability and, more importantly, the ability to land safely following the loss of one motor. The ultra-sonic sensor helps the UAS detect and avoid colliding with large objects. The Typhoon H comes bundled with YUNEEC's latest 4K camera, 3-axis stabilized camera, the CGO3+. The camera records 3840 x 2160 video at 30 fps and takes 12MP still photos. To maximize the benefits of the camera's 360-degree panning range, the landing legs politely fold out of the way in flight.

For the ground lover, the Typhoon ActionCam combines the 4K CGO3 camera and gimbal system familiar to those who know the Typhoon Q500 4K with the ergonomic SteadyGrip handle. This bundle is ideal for recording action without getting all of the camera shake experienced when handholding a conventional action camera. It includes a holder for smartphones with screens up to 6.4", so you can easily monitor what you're filming, as well as have access to camera settings. A thumb roller at the top of the grip allows you to adjust camera tilt using the gimbal's motorized pitch control.

What is the max flight time and distance of the Typhoon H Hexacopter?

The YUNEEC Typhoon H Hexacopter has a max flight time of 22mm and a Maximum Flying Height of 400' / 122 m above takeoff elevation (software enforced).

All the flight bells and whistles don't mean a thing if the camera doesn't look good. Until they can prove they have made a better camera then what was in the Typhoon 500, I'll stay with my Phantom 3 thanks.
