Adobe Highlights New Updates to Premiere Pro and After Effects

Just in time for the 2023 NAB Show, Adobe has announced several new features for its Creative Cloud catalogue, including major updates for Premiere Pro and After Effects.

Premiere Pro Updates

Premiere Pro has been updated with dozens of new features, including AI-powered text-based video editing and automated color tone-mapping. Leveraging the power of Adobe’s AI framework, these new AI-powered features should help streamline video workflows by simplifying the editing process.

The other big update is the new Automatic Tone Mapping feature, which lets editors mix and match HDR footage from different cameras into the same SDR project without the need to balance footage manually to get consistent color. Other new features include Sequence Locking for collaborative editing, presence indicators to see who is currently working on a given project, and Work While Offline to allow editors to work on collaborative projects offline and publish changes without overwriting others’ work.

After Effects Innovations

As for After Effects, updates include a new Properties Panel, which makes the most frequently used animation features accessible quickly from one convenient panel. It’s context sensitive, as well, so it automatically shows users their most frequently used selections.

Other new updates for After Effects include performance optimizations such as faster timeline layer selection and multi-frame rendering of shapes. New keyboard shortcuts for Selectable Track Mattes have been added, too. After Effects now helps users fix common issues without the need for IT expert assistance, including in-app troubleshooting for potential workflow issues, system performance optimizations, simple interfaces for enabling and disabling plug-ins, and diagnostics to fix bottlenecks in caches and preferences.

How do the new updates fit into your workflow? What do you think of the new features added to this version? And, if you have any questions about the updates to Premiere Pro or After Effects, be sure to ask in the Comments section, below!
