With mirrorless cameras and DSLRs flooding the video marketplace, it’s not unusual to see accessories that outsize the cameras on which they sit. The TorchLED Bolt 250 aims to fix this without compromising performance. While physically smaller in stature, the Bolt 250 outguns its predecessor, the TorchLED Bolt 220, by providing a higher output at all settings.
How did Core SWX manage to achieve this improvement while shrinking the fixture? The answer is in the newly implemented (and patented) Refractory Lens Technology, which provides increased light propagation from each LED diode. This more efficient design allows for higher output while cutting down on the space required, with the added benefit of no increase in power draw. In short, you can benefit from increased light output from a smaller, lighter product and still expect the same battery life. Some more benefits over the Bolt 220 include improved construction, featuring aluminum in addition to ABS, convenient magnetic filter mounting (a useful diffusion filter is included), battery-life monitoring, and the inclusion of a 9-channel wireless remote that can maintain control of all light functions from up to 250' away.
Like the Bolt 220 before it, the Bolt 250 can be powered from a D-tap power source using the included D-tap power cable, or with a Sony L-series battery. Conveniently, an L-series battery is included in the box along with a charger, so you can charge up and be ready to roll right out of the box. A swivel shoe mount is included for securing atop your camera, be it mirrorless, DSLR, or a traditional camcorder.
