Large color-accurate production monitors remain the best way to view and compose shots on set, especially with larger crews, and Elvid continues to make them more affordable with their accessible and capable new STV-280-4KHDR 28” StudioVision 4K HDR Monitor. This monitor packs a ton of inputs—two HDMI 2.0, two HDMI 1.4, 3G-SDI, DVI, and VGA—that support a variety of HD and 4K signals spanning NTSC and PAL. Enclosed in durable flight case housing with a removable sun hood, the new Elvid monitor is an especially appealing option for crews on the go.
Expect a native resolution of 3840 x 2160, a 1000:1 contrast ratio, 10-bit color, plus HDR10 support on the main HDMI input. Additional monitor features include a split-screen mode that lets you view multiple inputs simultaneously in different configurations, picture-in-picture, four user-assignable buttons, VESA mounting points, mounting feet for use on a flat surface, and a DE-15 tally connector.
Other classic production monitor perks include adjustable safety frame overlays, a center marker, Peaking filters, Check Field filters, and a 1:1 Pixel-to-Pixel mode to eliminate any image processing. The monitor can run on AC power or a V-mount battery that locks into a plate on the back. For those new to production monitors, make sure you’re OK with some heft (46.3 lb with the case, 19.8 lb without it) and don’t need 12G-SDI inputs or 12-bit color processing.
