Featuring a 24MP sensor, and capable of shooting 6K video (6016 x 3200) at up to 30 fps, the new DJI Zenmuse X7 camera with 3-axis gimbal offers a significant upgrade over its predecessor, X5S model, and makes for an even more ideal complement to the DJI Inspire 2 Quadcopter.

Recording options include 6K video at 17:9 and 16:9 aspect ratios, DCI 4K at 30 fps, and UHD 4K at 60 fps in the Cinema-DNG format; and DCI and UHD 4K in ProRes and H.265/H.264. 24MP still images can be captured individually or in continuous bursts of up to 20 fps.

The X7 is designed with a DL lens mount to support the larger sensor and, at the time of this announcement, supports four DJI f/2.8 aspherical lenses (16, 24, 35, and 50mm). Like the previous model, it’s also capable of recording to DJI CINESSD SSD cards and microSD cards onboard the Inspire 2 via integration with the copter.

Precision has also been improved, with the gimbal’s angular vibration range now at a low +/-0.005°. The controllable pan range is +/-300°, tilt range +40 to -125°, and roll range +/-20°, with the max pan speed at 360°/s, and tilt and roll speeds at 180°/s. Additionally, the gimbal mount is designed to be detachable for more convenient use with the copter.

The DJI Zenmuse X7 is DJI’s most powerful gimbal camera with its largest sensor yet.

I'd love to use this on the ground in a compact package! I know all the brains to process the footage are in the Inspire 2, but will DJI ever make a handle like gopro's karma grip?
