KumbaCam FPV Gear and Gimbal Stabilizers Enhance First-Person View Flying

Equip yourself for FPV flying or stabilized shooting a little closer to the ground with KumbaCam’s range of aerial-imaging accessories and gimbal stabilizers. The company’s offerings include all-inclusive FPV monitor kits, FPV goggles for a more immersive flying experience, 3-axis gimbal stabilizers for your GoPro on land, and accessories for all of the above.

For first-person view flying (FPV), KumbaCam has two kits to choose from. Both options work with the video output on HERO3 and later GoPros. Both feature a 7" monitor with transmitter/receiver set, and both include a hard carry case. The Basic Kit has a range of up to 500' and powers with a 460mAh transmitter battery. The Advanced Kit bumps the range up to 1300', and the transmitter features a 950mAh battery to provide the extra RF oomph required. Adapter kits make it easier when integrating the FPV kit with the DJI Phantom 2 quadcopter, eliminating the need to splice and solder wires.

For a more immersive option, the FPV Goggles Kit helps put you in the pilot's seat. Featuring 854 x 480 display-panel resolution, they will accept video from HDMI sources at up to 1080p. To support wireless video, there is a 5.8G receiver built in that will work with virtually any 5.8G analog FPV transmitters out there. In addition to HDMI and 5.8G, there is an AV-in port for legacy analog devices. An assortment of cables comes in the box, including a Lightning-to-HDMI adapter for later iPhones and iPads: great when using your iOS device as a ground station. You won't be blind to the world in front of you either. There is a front-facing camera, so you can still see your surroundings via a small picture-in-picture window.

For the GoPro HERO3, 3+, and 4, KumbaCam offers two stabilizer options. The 3-Axis GoPro Handheld Stabilizer is a handheld wand with a 3-axis motorized gimbal on top. The wand includes the battery, which lasts up to 12 hours. In addition to keeping your shots silky-steady, the stabilizer features controls to adjust the camera angle and toggle through different operation modes. As another option, there is a Wired Remote, allowing you to operate the stabilizer at a distance.

Speaking of distance, the Stabilizer Extension Pole is—let’s be honest—a selfie stick. It connects to the bottom of the handle to extend your reach from 1.4 to 4.1', depending on how far you telescope it.

The 3-Axis GoPro Mount Stabilizer takes the same stabilizer concept and puts a three-prong mounting interface on it, allowing you to mount it on a GoPro mount. You can use any mount type you want as long as it will handle the additional weight of the gimbal. A separate wired controller is included, plus a wrist strap to help you manage cables.
