The original MOFAGE POCO lens adapter grew from a Kickstarter hit to an industry mainstay, and now its successor is here. The POCO II Drop-In Filter Adapter has the same core feature set as the original, but adds an interchangeable front mount, a redesigned inner chamber for increased lens compatibility, and a more lightweight overall build.
The POCO II allows users to adapt EF or PL lenses to a wide variety of camera mounts, including Sony E, Leica L, Canon RF, Fujifilm X, Nikon Z and Kinefinity’s KineMOUNT. The key selling point, like with the original, is the ability to fit removable filters inside the adapter, sandwiched between the lens and the camera body.
Launch kits for the POCO II ship with a Pure Clear Filter and a 0.3-2.4 strength Variable ND Filter with 0.8 MOD gearing. Additional drop-in filters sold separately include White Mist at 1/4 or 1/8 strength, Black Mist at 1/4 or 1/8 strength, Orange Streak, and a Circular Polarizer. The POCO II is also compatible with camera mounts and drop-in filters built for the original.
The POCO II is lighter than its predecessor, at 238g vs. 372g with a filter installed, and smaller, now measuring 3.5 x 3.5 x 1.7” vs. 4.5 x 3.7 x 1.8”. The maximum lens insertion depth for the POCO II has grown from 24.5mm to 26mm, meaning it can handle more lenses with protruding rear elements such as the NiSi Athenas.
The design of the adapter is now fully modular, meaning both the camera mount and the lens mount are interchangeable, though lens options are just ARRI PL and Canon EF for the moment. The POCO system remains especially useful for cameras that lack internal neutral density filters and lenses that lack front filter threads.
