0Share

At the 2017 NAB show in Las Vegas, Ricoh has announced that it will be showing off its new Theta spherical camera. Portable, user-friendly, and powerful, the Ricoh Theta series cameras have found their way into the hands of photo and video professionals alike since the series’ introduction, in 2013. Ricoh’s twin-lens folded-optical system, designed for the Theta series, is well known for its ability to generate sharp full-spherical imagery with minimal stitching artifacts. While information on the new model is scarce at press time, the upcoming version of the Theta promises to record and live-stream 4K spherical video at 30p. All this is possible inside the new Theta’s body, while keeping the familiar slim monolithic form factor of its predecessors. To complete the spherical experience, the new Theta also uses a four-channel microphone to record surround-sound audio.

More details will be available when Ricoh reveals the new Theta at the 2017 NAB Show floor, in Las Vegas, so be sure to check out the B&H website for product information updates, pricing, and availability.
