The Mars X Transmitter’s compact design is especially handy for use with DSLRs, mirrorless cameras, and smaller camcorders. If centrally mounted on your camera, it won’t even interfere with your gimbal balance. Optimal transmission range is up to 150' with a maximum range of up to 300'. The Mars X works with progressive video input via HDMI and Wi-Fi–connected mobile devices like smartphones, iPads, and tablets. Use the HollyView app with updated firmware and smart channel selection to sync your device with the Mars X Transmitter.

Compatible cameras include the Canon EOS 5D Mark III, 5D Mark IV, 6D Mark II, EOS RP, and Canon pro camcorders and consumer camcorders; Sony a6600 series, a7 series, and a9 series cameras; Panasonic Lumix mirrorless cameras; FUJIFILM X series mirrorless cameras; and Nikon Z series mirrorless cameras. Note that the Mars X Transmitter is not compatible with cameras that record only interlaced video, such as the Canon 6D, 60D, 5D2, 80D, and 90D.

Weighing just under 4 ounces, the Mars X measures roughly 6 x 2 x 0.75", including its unfolded antennas. The transmitter has one HDMI video input, one USB Type-C port, and one micro-USB port. It provides a choice of eight frequency channels to avoid interference, and you can even password-protect your transmission to keep your project secure from prying eyes.

Transmitter features include an OLED status display screen, less than 0.07-second latency, built-in antennas that fold neatly into a niche on the transmitter, and rounded corners on the aluminum housing to avoid damage if dropped. This pint-size solution and app offer imaging tools like 3D LUT display, focus peaking, waveform, zebra, and more to lend your mobile device a pro-monitor feel.

Power options include an integrated battery with a 1-hour run time, USB Type-C charging from a power bank or USB charger with a wide 5-12V input range, and charging via select gimbals. The transmitter’s 1/4"-20 thread and the included cold-shoe adapter provide easy mounting on your rig.

A short anecdote for those who’ve read this far about how technology like the Mars X Transmitter has really made more collaborative filmmaking possible. Back in the day when most features and television shows were shot on film, if your camera didn’t have a videotap, the only way to see your frame was through the viewfinder. The joke on set was to tape a paper cup to the tripod so people could deposit a quarter to “pay” to peek through the camera like one of those telescopes at a tourist attraction!

hi can you advice on micro usb port - what is it for?

The Hollyland Mars X 1080p HDMI Wireless Video Transmitter's Micro-USB port is there for updating the transmitter's firmware via a hardwired connection to a computer. 

Can I have the sound into mobile device, or just video?!

Don´t quite understand, it runs also on current dc power or its limited to the one hour charged internal battery? Is there a way to have it running for more than an hour? Sorry, but its not completely clear to me. It charges and runs with a battery/power bank/ Gimbal? Thank you!

Yes, the Mars-X can run off its internal battery up to one hour or it can be powered using a larger battery, power bank, or gimbal with a 5-12V USB Type-C output.
