This week has been chock-full of new product announcements from a wide variety of brands, ranging from the Canon EOS C50 to the Nikon ZR. Camera Cages
One of the most essential accessories a freelance shooter can acquire is a camera cage. Not only does it help protect your camera's body, it also provides you with a wide variety of mounting points to build out the rig of your dreams. Each cage is custom-fit to a specific camera model.
The cages for the Nikon ZR come in basic and advanced kit configurations. The basic kit equips you with a camera cage and an HDMI/USB-C cable clamp to protect your camera connections. The advanced kit adds a top handle, a side handle, and a NATO rail for increased handholds and mounting options.
The Canon EOS C50 cages come in even more configurations, including a cage only option to build your own rig from accessories of your choosing. One cage kit is designed for the C50 with its XLR handle attached, providing a NATO rail compatible with the handle for additional mounting. Another cage kit provides its own top handle for low-profile shots when the C50’s XLR handle is not required. The advanced version adds the Pro Adjustable Arca-Type Plate and V-Lock Battery Mounting System to integrate a cine battery into your rig configuration without blocking your LCD screen. A USB-C cable clamp is also available to secure your data transfer connection.
This SmallRig release also includes a cage for Sony a7R series cameras with a built-in AirTag slot and HawkLock NATO rail for quick accessory attachment.
Other Accessories
Additional accessories in this release cover a wide array of uses—first of which being a Leather Case for the FUJIFILM X100VI that works to protect your camera and give it a chic appearance. Content creators streaming from their home office will be excited to see the Desktop Magic Arm with Crap-Shaped Clamp Kit, allowing them to integrate lightweight shooting equipment like action cameras and LED lights. The new Video Tripod is a lightweight solution for on-the-go shooters thanks to its adjustable center column and compact 21.2” folded length. And finally, the X-Touch Smart battery series has expanded with a new 221Wh V-mount edition for high-performance power delivery.
