SmallRig Cage Kit for Canon C50 Reviews
Cage doesn’t allow for lenses/adapters with rear filters
If you use the Canon RF-EF adapter with internal filters or, say, the Athena RF primes with rear filters, the front right side of the cage blocks filter access. You’d have to wholly remove the lens to swap filters then re-mount it. This was the same issue with the SmallRig r5C cage too. I was able to mill a few MMs off to make it work. However this cage would require cutting through the entire right side of screw mounting points …aka rendering it useless. Bummer. Had to return it and now hobble together own approach to a cage.
Almost Perfect
Like the title says, it's almost perfect. The cold shoe on the side is helpful but your mic will get in the way of the dials on the XLR part of the handle. You have to get creative to work around that. Some of the screw holes are a lot smaller than my C70 cage and I can't mix and match previously bought side handles, etc. Other than that, it's exactly what I needed to rig out this camera. Highly recommend.
