SmallRig is stepping up the game for content creators with the new Multifunctional Portable SSD and T99 V-Mount Power Bank, both powerful and flexible options for your next video project. The SSD, available in 1TB or 2TB sizes, has a 10 Gb/s USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port for data and bus power, as well as a second USB-C port capable of 100W of power delivery. Meanwhile, the new SmallRig T99 packs 99Wh of power into a handheld package that can be used as a V-mount or a power bank.

The new SmallRig Portable SSD is plug and play, no drivers required, and can be used with smartphones, tablets, and computers. The drive has dedicated SDXC and microSDXC card slots for offloading footage. The card slots can be used simultaneously for backing up footage to the SSD’s internal storage, with both supporting UHS-II (SD 4.0) standards. There’s also a thermal silicone pad for heat dissipation and a magnetic back for easy phone attachment. A magnetic ring is included for devices and cases without built-in magnets, and the SSD weighs only 106g.

The SSD should prove popular for those wanting to record large amounts of smartphone footage directly to external media, as well as people wanting to quickly backup and distribute footage shot on other cameras. SmallRig’s KOCARD smartphone app gives the drive a wider suite of features, enabling media compression, backups, and multi-destination cloud uploads, as well as AI-powered media recognition and classification. Supported platforms include Baidu Netdisk, Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive.

Switching to the power front, the new T99 V-mount power bank can be used as a standard V-lock battery with three D-Tap ports, as well as a powerful portable charger with a 30W USB-A output and two USB-C ports capable of 100W PD bidirectional charging. The T99 has a max 14.5V output, an official capacity of 6800mAh, and a rugged metal outer shell with 5.9’ drop resistance and an IP54 rating. There’s also BMS intelligent control to protect against overheating, overvoltage, and short circuiting. The T99 weighs just 862g.

We got some hands-on time with the SSD and the T99. Both are impressively light and thoughtfully designed around the needs of demanding on-the-go content creators. Finally, SmallRig released the Air Spotlight 36° Lens Kit that adds a projection lens to the brand’s RF 10C or RF 20C fixtures. The lens produces a beam four times brighter than the bare light, includes ten magnetic metal gobos, and has four-leaf framing shutters.
